WHO CAN JOIN THE FLASHERS?
CMCA members who post or have posted on the club forum are eligible for membership. Anyone with the intention of becoming a member is automatically a member. Induction ceremonies include the gifting of a little LED flashlight keyring at a Flashers meeting and optional drinking of stout (with proof of age).

WHAT IS AN LED?
A light-emitting diode (LED). Basically, LEDs are tiny light bulbs which have several advantages over conventional incandescent lamps which use a lot of energy to produce light. LEDs don't emit the heat of an incandescent bulb and thus do not waste energy; they don't have a filament that will burn out so they last much longer; their small plastic bulb makes them a lot more durable and concentrates the light emitted in a particular direction. LEDs also fit more easily into modern electronic circuits. In summary, they are a bushcamper's dream!

WHAT ARE THE ROOLZ?
No rules & regs. Everyone is a President. There are no organised disc bowls and no obvious (eg external) cross-dressing, however members can suit themselves as to both. Dogs, cats, parrots, ferrets and other travelling pets are allowed. Eat, drink and be merry, always and forever.

History of the Forum-Flashers ......

In July 2006 - and for the first time, 11 CMCA-badged motorhomes and 19 inhabitants gathered in the Gold Coast Hinterland at Canungra Showgrounds. It was an opportunity to swap tales of common interest, and match faces to names. The do-it-your-selfers and those who tinker in the mystical realms of electronics, computers, communications - and pretty well anything that makes a motorhome function - had a terrific time. Travel tales and feats of ingenuity were shared, as were meals, and happy hour was .... very happy.

It wasn't a CMCA-sanctioned event but simply a congregation of CMCA Forum posters. These motorhomers prefer to gather without the organisational constraints of a rally, a chapter event, or even a SIG group. The Forumites enjoy a healthy aversion to formality, rules and disc bowls while at the same time observing well the natural laws of generosity, mutual respect and cordiality.

In 2007, as the last days of July faded into August, 19 rigs and 34 CMCA Forumites found their way to the Maleny Showgrounds, nestled in the magnificent Glasshouse Mountains 90 minutes north of Brisbane. Good fun was had while sharing food and various "home-brewed beverages" - both caffeinated and fermented. Much time was spent in technical discussion, informal seminars and repair jobs-- but the cafes and shops of Maleny beckoned many others. With the gifting of LED flashlight keyrings by "Budget" Barry and John Hunt to all attendees, the new name Forum-Flashers was easily coined.

Mid-July 2008 saw 34 rigs, 60+ people and 10 day visitors having a great time in Maleny once again. Many Forumites spent 5 - 7 nights at the showgrounds having fun with old friends and new.
